On Saturday, January 31 Care on the Corner, in Partnership with Hackensack Riverkeeper and the Hudson River Fishermen’s Association, held our first Beginner’s Fishing Clinic for kids and their novice parents. Fifteen people joined us for a fun morning with Go Go Gomez (semipro Bass fisherman sponsored by Shimano); Hudson River Fishermen Association’s Joe Albanese, Arnie Ulrich and Dennis Kuntz (also of Second Chance Tackle). Everyone young and old learned how to cast and tie knots along with some other intricacies about fishing rods, reels and tackle. Everyone went home with their very own rod and reel ready for fishing once the spring weather kicks in. All are invited to join Riverkeeper at Oradell Reservoir for their Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 6. Then we can put all that info to good use and actually catch some fish!
